Applying to study at IUS

Application Submission Process:
 
Students’ applications can be submitted either through our online application portal (apply.ius.edu.ba) or by submitting their applications via email to admission@ius.edu.ba. Regardless of the submission method, it is essential that all required documentation be submitted in full for the application to be considered complete.
 
Required Documentation:
 
To ensure the smooth processing of applications, please note that the following documents are mandatory for all students, depending on the level of study they are applying for:
 
Undergraduate (Bachelor’s) Applicants:
 
  • High school diploma
  • High school transcript
  • Passport copy
Graduate (Master’s) Applicants:
  • Bachelor’s degree diploma
  • Bachelor’s degree transcript
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Motivational letter
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation
Doctoral (PhD) Applicants:
  • Bachelor’s degree diploma
  • Master’s degree diploma
  • Master’s degree transcript
  • Curriculum Vitae (CV)
  • Motivational letter
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation
  • Research proposal
Important Notes:
  1. All documents must be submitted immediately to avoid delays in processing applications.
  2. Any missing documents may result in the application being marked incomplete, which could delay the admissions decision.
  3. Please ensure that the documents are submitted in the correct formats (e.g., PDF) and that all transcripts and diplomas are clearly legible.
 
Invitation Letter and Payment Procedure:
  1. Initial Payment: Once the initial payment is made, the process for issuing the invitation letter will begin.
  2. Final Payment: When the invitation letter is stamped and ready to be sent, the remaining payment must be completed. Upon receiving this payment, the invitation letter will be sent to the student’s home address.
  3. Full Payment Option: Alternatively, if the full amount is paid upfront, a 5% discount will be applied to the total payment.
 
Visa D Application:
  1. Receiving the Invitation Letter: After receiving the original invitation letter, students must visit the Bosnia and Herzegovina embassy in their home country to apply for a Visa D.
  2. Contacting the Admission Department: Once the visa has been obtained, students should contact the admissions department to confirm their arrival and ensure everything is in order for their studies.
 
Residence Permit Process:
  1. Residence Permit Application: Upon arrival in Bosnia and Herzegovina, students must apply for a residence permit within 72 hours.
  2. Required Documents: To complete the residence permit application, students will need the following documents:
    • A rental contract for their accommodation (apartment or dormitory).
    • A certificate of clear criminal record from their home country, not older than three months, with an apostille stamp or verified by the BH embassy. 
  3. Accommodation: It is advised that students arrange their accommodation as soon as possible. For assistance in finding a place to stay, they can visit the following link: https://internationaladmission.ius.edu.ba/accommodation.
 
English Language Requirements and Procedures
For applicants who have not submitted a valid English proficiency certificate (such as IELTS or TOEFL), they will be required to take our internal English language test. The test consists of two parts: the placement test and the proficiency exam. The specific requirements for each level of study are outlined below:
 
Bachelor’s Degree Applicants:
 
  1. Placement Test: Applicants must achieve a score of 75 points out of 100 in the placement test to proceed to the second part, the proficiency exam.
  2. Proficiency Exam: To pass the proficiency exam and register for faculty courses, applicants need a minimum score of 65 points out of 100.
  3. If Failed: If applicants do not pass either of the tests, they will be required to attend English Language School (ELS), which includes four levels: A1, A2, B1, and B2. The specific level of ELS to be completed will depend on their performance in the tests, and it may not be necessary to complete all levels.
  4. Fees: The cost of ELS is 1,125.00 EUR per level or 4,500.00 EUR for all four levels. However, since applicants’ tuition fees will already be paid at this point, the ELS fees will be deducted from their paid tuition. Once they resume their faculty courses, they will only need to pay any remaining balance.
 
Master’s Degree Applicants:
 
  1. Placement Test: Applicants must score 75 points out of 100 in the placement test to be eligible for the proficiency exam.
  2. Proficiency Exam: To pass and be able to register for faculty courses, applicants need to score at least 70 points out of 100 in the proficiency exam.
  3. If Failed: Applicants who do not pass the tests will be required to attend the English Language School (ELS), and they will complete the levels based on their results. They will not need to complete the entire program unless required.
  4. Fees: The cost of ELS is 1,125.00 EUR per level or 4,500.00 EUR for all four levels. Since applicants will have already paid their tuition, the necessary amount for ELS will be deducted from their tuition fees. They will only need to pay the difference when they start their faculty program.
 
PhD Applicants:
 
  1. Placement Test: A score of 75 points out of 100 in the placement test is required to proceed to the proficiency exam.
  2. Proficiency Exam: To pass the proficiency exam and begin faculty courses, applicants must achieve at least 80 points out of 100.
  3. If Failed: If applicants fail either test, they will need to attend English Language School (ELS), with their level of attendance determined by their test results.
  4. Fees: ELS fees are 1,125.00 EUR per level or 4,500.00 EUR for all four levels. As with other applicants, the amount for ELS will be deducted from their paid tuition, and they will only need to pay the remaining balance when they begin their faculty courses.
